When you cannot see the next step

A practical Christian reflection on trusting God through uncertainty, seeking wise counsel and taking the next faithful step.

Uncertainty can make an ordinary day feel heavy. We want the full route before we take the first step, but faith often grows while the way ahead is still unclear. Proverbs 3:5–6 invites us to trust God and acknowledge Him in our decisions. That invitation does not mean ignoring facts or refusing help. It means bringing our limited perspective before Him with humility.

Start by naming what you actually know. What responsibility is in front of you today? What choice can wait? Which concern belongs in a conversation with someone wise and trustworthy? A small faithful action can be more useful than trying to solve your entire future in one evening.

Make room for prayer without demanding an instant answer. Write down one fear, one thing you are grateful for, and one step you can take responsibly. Read the passage in its context and ask what trust might look like in that particular situation.

Reflection: Where am I demanding certainty before I am willing to act? Who could help me think clearly and prayerfully about my next decision?

Prayer: Father, give me patience where the way is unclear, wisdom where a decision is needed, and courage to do what is right today. Help me listen, learn and trust You with what I cannot control. Amen.
